While taking a drive last fall, we noticed that we weren't hearing music from all of the Boxsters speakers.  Diagnosing the problem revealed that the Alpine amp in the frunk had failed.  Repairing broken amplifiers is beyond my ability so that meant that it needed to be replaced.  Finding and installing the new amp turned out to be more problematic than I had anticipated.  The Alpine amp had been mounted in the frunk in the obvious best place so, of course, I wanted to put the new amp there too.  It was a bit of a surprise to find that most of the car amps that I found were too large to fit in that location.  Fortunately, I was able to find a Kenwood amp that did fit. It seemed like it should be easy to just to just disconnect the Alpine and connect the Kenwood using the same wires but, of course, it wasn't that simple.
