2023 ended before I completed all the items on the maintenance list so I picked up where I left off, starting with the cabin air filter.
We also flushed new fluid through the brake lines. The Boxster didn't seem to like my MityVac so my son Ben pumped the pedal while I twisted the bleed screw. I'll assume you know how brake bleeding works so I didn't take photos of that process. There are a couple of things that I did want to point out.
The passenger side window had not been lowering the expected half-inch when opening the door and was the source of wind noise as well. Time to tear into the door and address this issue.
If you compare the way I changed the driver's side regulator in 2018 with how I changed the passenger's side in 2024 you'll see that my process was different. The regulator that I replaced on the driver's side appeared to be original, correctly installed when the car was built in Finland. I made a point of carefully marking its position so that I could install the new regulator in exactly the same place as the old. This time around, I had no such confidence that the obviously cheap aftermarket regulator I was replacing was installed properly. It seemed a better idea to follow the directions in my Boxster references (Bentley manual, 101 Projects book, Factory manual). This seems to have been a good choice. The window works the way a window should and the wind noise has gone away. We'll chalk this up as a win!
