It's no surprise to anyone that we didn't drive the Boxster (or any other vehicle) very much in 2020 and the early months of 2021 and I didn't have any special maintenance items planed but I did replace a few trim bits that were starting to show their age.

Opening a big box of goodies from Pelican Parts is almost like Christmas!

Sure, the box only contained a few pieces of (expensive German) plastic but I think it's pretty exciting...

The latch cover for the frunk is made of hard plastic with a rubberlike lip on it's outside edge. This rubber edge was becoming brittle and beginning to break off on my car. It was almost completely gone on the front of the passenger side.

Oh, what an improvement! Not only does the new bit look better but it should be more able to keep rain from getting behind the headlight pods.

The plastic trim at the rear wheel openings were also past their prime.

My daughter recently bought a vinyl cutter and tested it by cutting decals for my Boxster!

It took us far longer than expected to format the image files so that her gizmo would print them.

For now, we'll just use the Porsche lettering on the rear spoiler. Looks like it belongs, I like it!

Boxsters have plastic panels on the underside of the car to make it as smooth as possible thus improving aerodynamics. When I bought my Boxster I noticed that some of the mounting tabs were broken on the rearmost panel and fabricated DIY brackets to keep it from falling off. Although my "fix" seemed to work and the "repair" wasn't visible unless you were laying under the car I knew that it just wasn't right and finally decided to replace it.

The new panel obviously has the mounting tabs that the old one was missing but it arrived broken!

The seller did give me a refund for the broken piece but I decided to repair it instead of ordering another one.

Aluminum reinforcements held in place with Bondo and lots of pop rivets should hold it together!

I didn't think the white aluminum looked right so I sprayed it with some black undercoating even though no one except a mechanic (or me) will ever see this side.

And - Hazel drove the Boxster for the first time.
